Trillium Employment Services employs a number of Employment Consultants to assist businesses in employing people with developmental disabilities throughout King, Pierce and Clark Counties. Applicants should have experience in working with businesses and people with disabilities.

The Employment Consultant is responsible for all activities, both direct and indirect that are necessary to support a person with a disability on-the-job. These include: job development activities, job and task analysis, co-worker and supervisor orientation and training, recruitment of qualified applicants, coordination of transportation and residential assistance, and on-the-job training and support. The Employment Consultant focuses on strengthening the employer-employee relationship rather than providing direct service to the employee with the disability on-the-job.

Employment Consultant
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop jobs for people with disabilities.
- Interview potential candidates for job development as referred by DDD, DVR and from other sources.
- Perform vocational assessments of Trillium participants.
- Conduct evaluations of potential job sites. Restructure existing jobs to meet the abilities of program participants. Write appropriate proposals.
- Attend and represent Trillium at various networking events.
- Identify business leads for supported employment. Provide potential employer with information on Trillium's services and capabilities of our candidates.
- Facilitate participants' job starts. Coordinate supports with residential staff and families when necessary.
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching to supported employees.
- Implement solutions to transportation problems as needed.
- Provide training and consultations to employers and co-workers to enable them to support the supported employee.
- Check with supported employee and employer at regular intervals. Identify solutions to personnel issues and implement them. This may include behavior supports.
- Identify opportunities for career growth with the employer and supported employee. Facilitate further training or coaching to assist both parties.
- Develop ongoing positive relationships with key co-workers in participant's place of employment.
- Participate in weekly Trillium staff meetings. Provide input to other employment consultants and volunteer to share responsibilities that contribute to the success of the team.
- Maintain up-to-date case records and other assigned paperwork.
- Conduct and/or participate in participant review sessions with representatives of involved agencies and parent/advocates.
- Develop and implement productive weekly schedule to assist participants in maintaining their employment or developing employment opportunities.
- Disseminate information about community based employment to fellow providers, funders, employers, consumers and their advocates.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as identified and assigned by the Executive Director.
Desirable Qualifications
- Have at least two years experience in teaching skills to individuals with disabilities
- Bachelor's Degree
- Knowledge, ability and desire to work respectfully with people with disabilities
- Ability to relate to a diverse set of situations and individuals
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Self-directed and can work independently
- Ability to perform vocational assessments
- Outgoing and confident in approaching employers on behalf of people with disabilities
- Willing to work all shifts, weekends and holidays, if necessary
Mandatory Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License.
- Must possess private auto liability insurance and submit written verification of same.
- Must experience criminal background search conducted by Washington State in order to ascertain whether criminal convictions exist for crimes against persons. Evidence of such shall constitute grounds for immediate dismissal.
- Compliance/completion of form I-9, Immigration and Naturalization Services as required by law.
- Must possess current certification in First Aid and CPR no later than three months from the initial date of hire.
- Must obtain a favorable driving abstract from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
